General Dentistry at Creative Smiles Armadale

Creative Smiles provides general dental care at our Armadale clinic for patients from across greater Melbourne. We assess oral health, discuss any concerns and explain suitable preventive or restorative options, their risks, costs and ongoing care.

Comprehensive Check-Ups & Professional Cleans

Regular dental visits are essential for catching issues early. Our dentists perform thorough examinations and professional cleans to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains that daily brushing and flossing can’t reach — helping to keep your smile fresh and healthy.

Dental X-rays when clinically indicated

Dental X-rays can help assess decay, bone changes and other concerns that may not be visible during an examination. They use ionising radiation and are taken according to clinical need, considering previous imaging and your circumstances.

Tooth-Coloured Fillings

Tooth-coloured fillings may restore a tooth affected by decay or damage. Your dentist will explain the proposed material, alternatives and risks. Sensitivity, wear or fracture can occur, and a deeply affected tooth may need further treatment.

Gum Health & Periodontal Care

Healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy mouth. We offer treatments for gingivitis and early gum disease, including deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) and ongoing maintenance to protect your oral health.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and bridges may help restore damaged teeth or replace missing teeth in suitable patients. Preparation can be irreversible and restorations may need repair or replacement. We discuss options, risks, maintenance and costs before treatment.

Gentle Tooth Extractions

In some cases, a tooth cannot be saved. Our dentists perform extractions as gently and comfortably as possible, and can discuss replacement options to maintain your bite and appearance.

Oral Cancer Screening

An examination includes looking for concerning changes in the mouth. Examination has limits and cannot rule out every condition. Tell your practitioner about a persistent ulcer, lump, unusual patch or other change, even if you have recently had a check-up.

Treatment risks and recovery

General dental procedures have different risks and recovery needs. Depending on treatment, these may include sensitivity, soreness, bleeding, infection or the need for further care. Your practitioner will discuss the material risks and alternatives relevant to you. Read about general dental treatment risks and recovery.

Dr. Reg De Sousa

Dental Surgeon

As the practice principle at creative smiles I am proud to lead the dedicated team of doctors, nurses and administrative staff at Creative Smiles.

I come from a family of dentists and so grew up around dentistry from a young age helping out whenever I could .Hence my passion for dentistry began at an early age and has grown over the last 30 years that I have been in practice.

I qualified as a dentist from the Royal London Hospital Medical College, (University of London) in 1994. On graduation I completed a years post graduate vocational training and then began working on the NHS for the next 12 years.

During this time I also branched out and opened a small private practice on London’s Harley Street which I had for 5 years until my departure to Melbourne.

While on Harley street, I developed my interest in implant dentistry, and studied for a year in 2007, under a clinical mentorship.

In 2010 I moved to Melbourne with my family and began working as a dentist at Creative Smiles, where I have further developed my skills in implantology and cosmetic dentistry and additionally completed the Invisalign and Spark training.

I have also completed the All-On-4 training at the Malo Clinic in Lisbon, Portugal, where the concept was created, enabling me to offer this treatment concept in addition to the more traditional approach to fixed and removable prosthetic oral rehabilitation to our patients at Creative smiles.
